Founders Story

Yash Pednekar

Growing up in Melbourne, my dream was always to play professional cricket for Australia. I was fortunate to move through the junior pathways, juggling representative, premier, and club cricket from a young age.

Between the ages of 15 and 20, I had the opportunity to train and compete alongside some of the best players in the country, learn from world-class coaches, and be immersed in high-performance environments several times a week. But despite these experiences, I held onto the belief that more was better, more training, more reps, more analysis. I chased technical perfection, often sacrificing balance, mindset, and match specific training.

I trained relentlessly. That dedication helped me earn representative honours, but over time, I hit a plateau. My performances became inconsistent, and I started questioning what was holding me back. I believed the more balls I hit, the more runs I’d score, but it wasn’t working.

It wasn’t until I began learning from sports psychologists, elite coaches, and professional players, that I realised success isn’t just about how much you train, it’s about how you train. Purposeful, high-quality sessions, combined with strong mental routines, are what truly elevate performance. Looking back, I now see how much I neglected the mental side of the game and the importance of balance in life to consistently get the best out of myself. Mental preparation, structured routines, and the ability to manage pressure are just as important as technical skills. It’s something I wish I had understood earlier in my journey.

I let my performances affect my life outside of cricket, my personal relationships and my own self-worth. My identity was so tied to cricket that I couldn’t separate what I did from who I was. If I played well, I felt good about myself. If I failed, it felt like I had failed as a person and let down everyone who supported me. That mindset took a toll, and it’s something I now work hard to help others understand and navigate.

These experiences led me to start Youth Performance Cricket Coaching, a mentorship and coaching platform designed to support young cricketers facing the same challenges I once did. These experiences fuelled a passion to help the next generation not only perform, but transition with confidence from junior and representative levels into premier and professional cricket.

Our coaching is built on a foundation that bridges the gap between potential and performance through tailored support, individual development, and long-term mentorship.

Mission

To help athletes play with confidence, enjoy the process, and grow both on and off the field.

While I’m still learning, developing, and striving to become the best cricketer I can be. I’m passionate about sharing the lessons I pick up along the way, so others can benefit, grow, and reach their potential faster and more confidently.

With less burnout, and a greater belief in themselves.

Vision

To build a new generation of cricketers who play with clarity, confidence, and purpose—while growing into well-rounded, resilient individuals prepared for both sport and life. Through a coaching environment grounded in joy, perspective, and personal growth, we aim to develop not just better athletes, but better humans.
